STRUCTURE OF NEW SAFETY RULES

The detailed new classification of CERN Safety rules can be found here below:

A. Main provisions

  • Safety Regulations (SR) - translate CERN’s Safety policy into rules applicable to various fields of activity of the Organisation, for the purposes of occupational health and safety, environmental protection, safety of equipment and installations, and operational safety.
  • Safety Plans and Safety Procedures (SP) - include main schemes, organizational charts, or programmes, usually with CERN-wide application, having binding effect in matters of Safety.

B. Executive provisions

  • General Safety Instructions (GSI) - determine, for defined fields of activity or defined types of equipment, how main Safety rules of level A must be implemented. They are usually issued to cover CERN-wide aspects.
  • Specific Safety Instructions (SSI) - determine, for more restricted objects than GSIs, detailed provisions for the implementation of Safety rules defined at level A.

Texts and abstracts on these web pages are for information only. Only the Safety rules are legally binding.
